First look: How scientists discovered our new human ancestor Homo naledi

The discovery of a new species of human ancestor, homo naledi, has just been announced.
Scientists who made the discovery say it is the "most significant discovery of early human relatives" never


seen before in the fossil record.
Announced by the University of the Witwatersrand, the National Geographic Society and the South African Department of Science and Technology, the discovery sheds light on the origins and diversity of human ancestry.
